Beginners Hand Spinning Classes

Learn to spin your own yarn in this friendly, beginner-focused four-week spinning course,
designed to be inclusive, supportive, and confidence-building.

All equipment is provided, including the use of a modern Majacraft spinning wheel to take home for the duration of the course. All fibre is included in generous amounts, supporting both class learning and home practice. Printed notes and online support videos are also provided.

You’ll begin spinning with locally sourced fleece, progress to commercial wool top, explore alpaca fibre as well as blending with wool, and finish by creating and spinning a colourful hand-dyed batt.

Classes are kept intentionally small to allow students to learn at their own pace, with teaching adapted to suit different learning styles.

Taught by Janet Day, with over 24 years of spinning experience and 15 years specialising in teaching beginners.

No prior experience needed. Places are limited — early booking recommended.
