Beginners Hand Spinning Classes

INTRODUCTION

Our hand spinning classes are taught by Janet Day. Janet has been spinning since 2001 and teaches both here in Australia and internationally. Spinning is her passion and she just loves to introduce it to as many people as possible.

The Woolarium classroom offers a light filled space and classes are kept small (maximum of 6) to provide students with individual attention. All fibre (locally sourced where possible) and equipment are provided for the classes, either as part of the class fee as in drop spindling, or on loan for the duration of the class as with the hand spinning classes.  

Janet knows that learning a new skill can be challenging so she makes sure that both the fibres and equipment are of a high standard so that students can relax and feel supported.

This is the perfect opportunity for you to be come the creator of your own truly individual yarns!

BEGINNERS HAND SPINNING

Be gently guided through the process of spinning on a wheel.  Students will learn how to prepare and spin from a fleece and a whole range of other fibres including Alpaca and silk.  By the end of the course students will have a basic knowledge on how to spin a balanced yarn that can be then used for knitting and weaving.

Cost: $400 (spinning wheel loaned for the duration of the class) 4 weeks (12 hours)
