Shibui Yarns are causing a bit of excitement and proving to be very popular. Already I am seeing some beautiful projects. I made this sample using Shibui Linen. I was keen to try this yarn. It proved to be a real pleasure to knit with and produced such a great result.
The pattern is Shibui Mix No 15, it uses 4 skeins and there are 18 colours to choose from.
I will be extending the Shibui range to include Shibui Merino Alpaca 50% baby alpaca and 50% merino wool 10ply and Shibui Staccato 70% super wash merino and 30% silk 4ply.
Its official Blue Sky Alpacas and Spud and Chloe yarns and patterns are on the way.
Sit and Knit is on every Sunday afternoon 2pm - 4pm, It is good fun and knitters and crocheters of all levels come along.
Just bring your project, chat, knit, crochet, share ideas, learn a few tips,

I am well on my way with my Christmas list ............
The String Bag is finished. I found the Rowan Creative Linen just brilliant for this project.
I decided on the Candy Cane Christmas Stocking from Millamia and its knitting up a treat
So much has happened over the last couple of weeks. It has been just so wonderful finally getting the shop open and now the website/online store up and running.
I've had nothing but encouraging comments and lots of good wishes. Thank you all so much. I am very excited to be in Northcote selling beautiful yarns to my fellow knitters.
If you haven't already been down and added to 'Endless Knitting' currently displayed in the front window, please come down and be part of it. This piece has been going for a decade and is 11or 12 metres long so far...........
I have a venue! It will be at 211a High Street Northcote, but I have a lot to do before I can start stacking the shelves with lovely yarn. I have to get the shelves first!
It’s been a very interesting process deciding where the best place for the shop should be. Is the location more important than the style and layout of the shop, or is the standard of the building a higher priority.
Looking up and down High St in both Thornbury and Northcote I met a few traders who were very encouraging and inspiring. It was great to talk to Emily at North St Botanical (www.northst.com.au) as she had been through the same process last December.
In the end location won out and even tho the actual shop doesn’t look great at the moment, the location is brilliant!
So now the focus is on getting a decent floor, some partitions and all the services connected in anticipation for gaining access in a couple of weeks.
After such a long time I have finally made a start, the decision has been made, the ball is rolling…….
Welcome to the WOOLARIUM. A yarn store in Melbourne and online.
A yarn store which I hope will be inspiring, creative and just a little bit different.
There is a lot to do but if all goes well I should be opening in about 4 weeks time, all very exciting.
I am busily researching many interesting yarns from around the world to stock at the Woolarium.
Such as fantastic yarns from Rowan, Filatura Di Crosa, Shibui, Noro and Sublime to mention a few.
